“Matt’s engaging presentation opened our eyes to what’s coming and what to do about it. Folks told me they “got it” when it comes to understanding the importance of navigating the Age Frontier. Listen, I hire speakers all the time and I’d hire Matt again to illuminate our group.”

Matt Thornhill is a nationally recognized speaker and strategist who helps organizations navigate what he calls the Age Frontier—the demographic reality reshaping markets, businesses, industries, associations, nonprofits, and communities across America.
For 25 years, Matt has helped leaders move beyond assumptions about aging and see the economic and cultural influence of older adults more clearly. In 2003, he co-founded The Boomer Project, one of the first research firms dedicated exclusively to studying adults 50+. In 2007, he co-authored Boomer Consumer, an award-winning book that examined how older adults were redefining markets and expectations long before those changes became widely recognized.
Through original research, Matt identified what he calls the Age Multiplier—the reality that most organizations already depend on adults 50+ far more than they realize, across revenue, engagement, influence, and long-term sustainability. But few organizations recognize this dependency or know how to multiply it into strategic advantage.
Matt has delivered over 1,000 presentations to Fortune 500 companies, associations, industry groups, nonprofits, and policy forums. Organizations including Walmart, Google, Procter & Gamble, Verizon, AARP, and the National Governors Association have turned to him for guidance on navigating demographic change. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NBC, CBS, and Forbes.
Beyond speaking and advising, Matt is the founder of Openly Gray (a nonprofit movement changing how society thinks about aging), Cozy Home Community (an innovative senior living model), and is a strategic advisor and partner in OpenlyGray.com (a creative agency specializing in the 50+ market).
With a background in strategic marketing and market research, Matt combines deep expertise with practical relevance. Whether addressing C-suites, boards, or industry conferences, he helps organizations see the Age Frontier clearly and move forward with confidence.
As Matt often says, "Growing older is on everyone's bucket list."
If you're ready to navigate the Age Frontier, he's ready to help.
Matt has been featured frequently in stories about older consumers in media across the world.
